This paper discusses connotation and extension of Chinese nursing. Chinese nursing is rich in contents and includes three aspects of nursing theory

nursing methods and unique nursing techniques. Being wide in extension

in terms of research subjects

deals with nursing of the diseased

health care after disease

and prevention before disease. In clinical practice

it involves both hospital nursing and community nursing. In terms of subject tasks

it ranges from clinical nursing

nursing management

nursing education to nursing research. Three objectives of subject building are explored concerning how to emphasize characteristics and advantages of Chinese nursing under its framework of connotation and extension for the purpose of modernization and internationalization of the subject.
